The Company
MobileHelp develops and distributes MPERS (Mobile Personal Emergency Response System) devices. These devices are integrated with nationwide wireless voice and data and GPS technology to provide real-time medical monitoring services and location tracking for expedited personal emergency assistance. MobileHelp also offers Caregiver Tools, an innovative event notification and online tracking platform for families and caregivers.
The Partnership
MobileHelp was referred to the Topmark Team by the Chairman of the company, with whom Topmark developed a relationship over the course of 10 years. We were attracted to MobileHelp by their rapidly increasing recurring revenue business model and differentiated, proprietary technology. Additionally, the company was led by an experienced management team with a proven track record of building, scaling, and successfully exiting businesses. Topmark served as the only institutional investor on the company’s Board of Directors. We Identified and recruited a senior healthcare executive to join the company’s Board of Directors to help develop a telemedicine strategy for the company. We collaborated with the management team regarding corporate governance, capital markets, and the hiring of an investment banker leading to the successful sale of the Company.
Topmark invested in MobileHelp through a legacy fund and exited its investment with the sale of the company to private equity firm Abry Partners in 2017.
