Management was deeply experienced in the industry as a publisher of reference materials for engineers and scientists. Knovel had a strong recurring revenue business model with a high satisfaction rating among the world’s largest industrial and engineering companies. Topmark collaborated with management on a wide range of issues, including corporate governance, finance, recruiting senior management, and corporate strategy.
Topmark invested in Knovel through a legacy fund and exited its investment when Elsevier acquired the company in 2012.
