Background

Brian Model is responsible for the overall operations of Topmark Partners, including sourcing, underwriting, and executing the firm’s growth equity investments. He is based in Topmark Partners’ Tampa, Florida headquarters. 

Prior to Topmark Partners, Brian spent 13 years managing equity investments in New York for Stonehenge Capital Company. In addition, he has 12 years of operating experience as a retail executive and entrepreneur, responsible for both online and physical retail locations throughout the country. 

Brian earned a B.A. in Economics from Duke University and an MBA, with honors, from Columbia Business School.

Brian currently serves on the board of directors of Clerio Vision, Coach Care, itopia, Lumetrics, Ride Health, Soundstripe (observer), and Vū Technologies (observer). He formerly served on the board of directors or as an observer at GTR (acquired by Personify), Critical Mention (acquired by Onclusive), Knovel (acquired by Elsevier), Medidata Solutions (NASDAQ: MDSO), iCardiac Technologies (acquired by a financial sponsor), YPrime (acquired by a financial sponsor), Impel (formerly SpinCar, acquired by a financial sponsor), eHealth Technologies (acquired by a financial sponsor), Firsthand (acquired by Infobase), and Omni-ID (acquired by HID).

Ecosystem Engagement

Brian is active in the regional venture investing community, serving as executive committee member and past president of the Upstate Capital Association of New York. He serves as a board member of Tampa Bay Wave, a board alternate of the Florida Venture Forum, and chairs the selection committee for Florida Venture Forum’s annual conference. He has been a featured speaker at events sponsored by Columbia Business School, ACG, Florida Venture Forum, and FundingPost. Brian has served as a judge or advisory board member for business plan competitions and venture financing events sponsored by Columbia Business School, Duke Innovation & Entrepreneurship, LaunchNY, NY Business Plan Competition, StartFast Venture Accelerator, Upstate Capital Association of New York, and The Wharton School.
