SEARCY, Arkansas –  June 15, 2018 – In just a few days, Thrive Frozen Nutrition will unveil its first new product since the launch of nutrition-enhanced Thrive Ice Cream in 2011 at Breakthroughs 2018, one of the healthcare industry’s largest leadership conferences. Set for June 19-22, the event is hosted by Premier Inc. (NASDAQ: PINC), a healthcare improvement company that operates one of the largest healthcare group purchasing organizations (GPO) in the nation. Thrive is a contracted Premier vendor.

Breakthroughs is the perfect event to launch Thrive Gelato, a frozen dessert with the enhanced nutrition and great taste of Thrive Ice Cream, in a smaller portion size. This year’s Breakthroughs event – at Nashville’s Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center – is expected to attract representatives from more 3,750 U.S. hospitals, 130,000 provider organizations, and hundreds of vendors.

Thrive CEO Alan Gessel says that if formal and informal taste tests are any indication, Thrive Gelato will be a big attraction at Breakthroughs and for Premier member health systems, rehabilitation facilities, cancer centers, and senior living facilities. In side-by-side blind taste tests with a competing product, nine out of ten participants preferred the taste and texture of Thrive Gelato.

Gessel says his company developed Thrive Gelato, which is creamy and flavorful as one expects from gelato, in response to feedback from the healthcare industry. “Many people have told us they love the nutrition, quality, and flavors of our flagship product, Thrive Ice Cream, and how perfect it is in addressing a number of clinical nutrition strategies. They also shared they would like a similar nutritionally enhanced frozen dessert but in a smaller portion – four fluid ounces versus six – at a lower price. Thrive Gelato satisfies both requests, and like Thrive Ice Cream, delivers a superior consumer experience.”

Like Thrive Ice Cream, Thrive Gelato is a nutritionally enhanced product intended for use in healthcare, senior living and sports nutrition industries. It is also appropriate for adults and children who enjoy gelato, but want more than empty calories. A four-ounce cup of Thrive Gelato includes nine grams of protein, 24 vitamins and minerals, and is gluten free, certified kosher and suitable for dysphagia diets.

Thrive is inviting Breakthroughs attendees to visit the company at Booth 1704 and put Thrive Gelato and Thrive Ice Cream to the spoon test. Gessel expects the Thrive team will hand out thousands of samples of both delicious products to get feedback and encourage Premier members to add the products to their menus. Premier member attendees enjoy favorable negotiated rates on Thrive products through the organization’s GPO.

Gessel says Thrive will bring plenty of samples and spoons. “Who says no to ice cream!”
